What's New with The Worsley's?2001 was a busy year for us. We kept very busy in the Barbecue Business and in visiting friends and family. We did a lot of traveling to BBQ Competitions (in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Illinois, Kansas and Missouri, to name a few). We also made it to Pennsylvania for a surprise visit. Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2001 and Robert and I celebrated our 21st. We had a wonderful spiritual feast at our District Convention in Albany, GA and a fine Circuit Assembly in November. Our last BBQ Competition for 2001 was theJack Daniels World Championship Invitational held in Lynchburg, TN. The team won 1st Place in the Anything But category with our Grilled Buttrub Catfish Fillets with Carmelized Corn, 3rd Place in the Sauce category, and 5th Place in the Dessert category. (There is more info on our BBQ Cooking Team at www.buttrub.com) The weather here in Southwest Georgia was very nice this fall and winter, with cold weather just arriving the last week of the year. We had a very nice visit from our friends in Pennsylvania. Marcia and Brenda George stayed with us for a week, visiting with the Blakely Congregation and their family in Colquitt. Robert continues to improve from his shoulder surgery and will be getting back to work soon - delivering those Little Debbie cakes.
______________________ 2002 started off with some interesting events. On January 3rd we had a light dusting of Snow! (The last time we had snow here in Southwest Georgia was in 1989 so we get excited about any amount) 2002 saw the birth of my brother's grandson, Tyler Jacob Weary. His mother, Erica and father, Zethan are in college at Shippensburg. Here is a family photo: 2002 also ended with a happy note when my Mom & Dad finally decided to sell their house in PA and move down here to GA. They bought our house and we put in a new modular home next door.
Just got the kitchen tile finished - here is a photo
2003 is also proving to be a good year for our BBQ Business. We haven't been to many BBQ Competitions with the Cooking Team this year, as we have been handling more of the sales leads. But Robert did get to go to Shannon IL with Byron in the "New Butt Mobile". See pics below. They got Reserve Grand Champion in the Butt to Butt competition this year. Robert has also been doing more local Cooking Demos and Sampling as well as a Cooking School this spring in Tallahassee FL and one scheduled for Louisiana this fall. Our team has also been chosen to compete in the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational in Lynchburg, TN again this year, so we will be attending that competition in October. We also have a trade show coming up in November out in Denver, CO.

------------------------- July 2 - 4th (Dates for our 2004 "Walk With God" District Convention) The Blakely Congregation was assigned to attend the Columbus, GA Convention, along with other congregations in Columbus as well as Southwest GA, Northwest FL, and Southwest AL. We enjoyed an excellent spiritual feast, as always - being upbuilt by an abundance of spiritual food from Jehovah and his loving organization. He always gives us the encouragement and reminders that we need to keep "Walking With God". And we enjoyed the association with our Brothers and Sisters from other congregations that we only see on occasion. It was a nice surprise to see Sister Jewel Allen again. We had a peak attendance there in Columbus on Sunday of 4,708 and it is such a wonderful feeling to know we are part of a Worldwide Brotherhood who are meeting all over the world in small groups such as these to take in the same truth about Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. We received two new publications for use in the field ministry - a booklet entitled "Good News for People of All Nations" and a brochure entitled "Keep on the Watch!" The drama on Sunday "They Bore Thorough Witness to the Good News" gave us a history of the life of the Apostle Paul. Friday's theme was "This Is The Way, Walk In It" based on Isaiah 30:21 Saturday's theme was "Keep Strict Watch On How You Walk" from Ephesians 5:15 Sunday's theme was "Go On Walking In The Truth" 3 John 3
_____________________ Flew out to Kansas City, MO for the American Royal World BBQ Invitational and Open the first weekend in October. There were some 470 teams competing in the Open. _____________________ The buttrub.com Competition Team just got invited back to the Jack Daniels World Championship in Lynchburg TN. Here are two pictures from last years set up. Awards won at 2004 Jack Daniels : 2nd Place Ribs and 3rd Place Sauce _______________________ Next scheduled event is The Best of the Best at Douglas GA November 4 - 6, 2004. See the pictures above of the Food Network filming us at this event.
Got an email from Dee, my best friend in high school and my spiritual Sister, inviting Robert and I to spend a week with her and Alan at their timeshare in Utah. Can't wait!! I am looking forward to sitting around the fire and catching up on things with her. I'm not going to try skiing this trip - but will try snow shoeing instead. We will also be visiting Sundance Resort and they have an activity called Night Owling -- they take you on an evening two hour guided snow shoe hike on the trails at Sundance spotting owls. Sounds like fun. These are a few shots at Alta and East Canyon Resort in Utah These are a few shots at Sundance Utah _________________________ What a treat, we saw Dee & Alan the first of this year and again this summer. They came for a long awaited visit to our home in GA and we took them down to the Gulf Shore for a few days in the sun. Here are a few shots from Destin FL:
February 2006: Started this year out with another trip and visit with our friends in PA - Dee and Alan. This trip was to Lake Tahoe. Also invited were Carl Chytla, a friend of Alan's from Philadelphia and Val and Dean Ramsay from Palmyra. We flew into Reno NV and drove to Lake Tahoe - when we arrived the weather was warm (in the 50's), but it soon turned cold and snowed. Flew back out from Sacramento after traveling up over the mountain in the snow at Donner Pass. Here are a few pictures around the Lake and a few of the group.
August 2006: From California and snow to the Florida Keys and sand & water . . .
This year started out with our annual ski trip in Feb - this time we went to Sundance, UT for 5 days and Park City, UT for 5 days. Robert had a good time skiing and I took a Jewelry Class and Pottery Class at Sundance. You can click on the links above to look at a PDF of the classes. Below are a few of the pictures from our trip. We also got a chance to see Dee and Alan again during this trip as they were also in Utah during the same time. Here are a few pictures from the trip. You can also visit my picture trail photo account for more pictures.

| Sad news this July 2007 - Dad passed away. He's had it tough these past two years - but he's at rest now - awaiting the promised resurrection. Please click on this link to see his Slideshow Tribute. and visit his grave at Find A Grave - you can leave him flowers if you'd like. Here are some of my favorite photos of Dad:
Got to spend the day with Erica, Zethan and Tyler at Hershey Park. Here are a few pictures from that: Oh! - I forgot to post the pictures of my new car I got this spring --
I finally got a convertible! Makes going to the grocery store so much

October 2007 Looking forward to a good Circuit Assembly this fall in Tifton GA - October 27th and 28th. Theme - Do All Things for God's Glory. Looking forward to the spiritual food as well as the upbuilding association with the brothers and sisters we haven't seen in a while. Will post a few pictures when we return.
Also, we have finalized our Winter Ski trip plans for Feb 2008 - we'll be going back to Sundance Utah for a weekend visit, and then to Park City Utah for the rest of the week. We'll be looking forward to catching up on things with friends, Dee & Alan Freed, who moved to Layton Utah this past summer. We'll be staying with them the last weekend of the trip. Also looking forward to introducing our friends Betty & Anthony Cull to the winter snow of Utah. (They will be joining us for part of the week in Park City.) They're not skiers, but I plan to introduce them to snowshoeing while they are there. I will be posting pictures when we return. |
